Juneteenth Celebration on The Block

Juneteenth Celebration on the Block – Live Music at LEAF Global Arts with Eaze Dog

Join The Block Collaborative for a day of celebration, reflection, and community as we honor Juneteenth on The Block—Asheville’s historic Black business district. This annual event uplifts Black freedom, creativity, and resilience through music, food, storytelling, art, and connection.

What to expect:
Music and Dancing
Local Black Vendors
Food trucks and pop-ups
Community Tours
Family-friendly and kids’ art activities
Wellness resources and community partners
Juneteenth is a moment to remember our shared history and to imagine a more just future. This celebration is about joy, culture, and honoring the legacy of those who came before us. Bring your friends, your family, and your full self.
Let’s gather in love, resistance, and community—right here on The Block.
Hosted by The Block Collaborative
With support from the City of Asheville’s Boosting the Block initiative.

The event is finished.

Mayani is a Maasai boy from longido Arusha. He went to boarding school at 6 years old and lost his Maasai language and tradition. Since joining the LEAF program, he has learned to sing Maasai songs, practiced the ‘jump’ tradition and wear Maasai shukas (traditional clothing). Mayani is extremely happy and is currently teaching other youth the culture.
