LEAF Global Arts and the YMI Cultural Center are thrilled to invite you to this pop-up music series as part of the Reimagine 2020 community event!
Many years ago, The Del Cardo Club was a flagship community business building in the nexus of Asheville’s predominately African American district known as “The Block”, one of the largest “black-owned” business districts in the South. It was a popular entertainment and business wub for the East End Community. The second floor of the Del Cardo Club hosted many local musicians during that time. We are excited to bring music back into this historic building with local musicians paying tribute to another local American singer-songwriter and influential civil rights activist, The High priestess of Soul, Nina Simone.
What and Where is it?
“A Tribute to Nina Simone” music series will feature three local musicians on three separate evenings. Before each performance, you will have an opportunity to enjoy a complimentary beverage while you join an exclusive tour of the LEAF Global Experience. The Tribute to Nina Simone performances will be a recorded performance for the upcoming Reimagine 2020 virtual stream sooo… shhhh… a recording will be in progress. 🙂 This experience has been curated by Claude Coleman.
