LEAF HANDCRAFTS & FOLK ARTS

RFSevenonTruck2web

Along the way to enjoy some incredible music at Lakeside Stage, your senses are overcome; fun folk Art paintings, shimmering jewerly, creative clothing, the scent of crepes, the splash of laughter, and is that your friend over there hula hooping to funky grooves coming from the stage? This is indeed life the way it should be.

Ahead, the Juried Art Fair pulses with life; the legion of art cars gleaming in the distance telling their stories for all to explore, sun sparkled colored glass and billowing textiles vie for your attention while the soundtrack of LEAF living soothes your ears all against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A virtual symphony to the soul....

Over 50 artisans, contemporary and folk, demonstrate their craft and sell original artwork, clothing, jewelry, musical instruments and much more throughout the artists booths. Dance in a new batik dress, grab that musical suitcase you’ve been eyeing and create your own masterpiece. Perhaps get that henna experience you have been curious about, and get a handwoven basket to carry your finds back to your tent. Parade your new chapeau during the Saturday Parade and share your spontaneous joy for life with the rest of the LEAFers. For many, the treasures acquired here serve to keep fond memories of LEAF fresh and alive.

New to LEAF this May

HayMow

A Raised Art Experience

HayMow, in the historic Black Mountain College Barns, will feature four visual outsider artists who will showcase and sell their works of “Uncommon Art,” conduct workshops, and hold conversations with the underlying philosophy of folklore as action. This spring’s first league of HayMow artists features Lamar Sorrento of Memphis, who will be honoring Robert Johnson’s 100th birthday celebration, as part of LEAF’s Blues focus.
